Published on Kickstarter several days ago was Blackmore: A Steampunk Adventure Game. Blackmore hopes to bring the world a Victorian Era point-and-click adventure game with Western and Eastern influences. Directed by Jeremy Blaustein
(writer and translator for Metal Gear Solid, the Silent Hill series, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night), Blackmore tells the story of Emma Honda-Blackmore, a half-Japanese woman living in 1888 London. Daughter of the late-genius inventor Lord Simon Blackmore, Emma has access to a variety of gadgetry and her wits inherited from her father. Both come in handy when Emma stumbles upon a grisly crime scene left behind by famous serial killer, Jack the Ripper.
Emma, along with her sidekick robot boy, Descartes, search for Jack the Ripper across London. The game will be a classic adventure title with puzzles, exploration, and gadgetry. The game will be isometric with 2.5D graphics. Art will be done by Satoshi Yoshioka
(Snatcher, Policenauts), music by Motoaki Furukawa
(Gradius, Snatcher), written and directed by Jeremy Blaustein, and starring voice actors David Hayter
and Jeff Lupetin.
Blackmore is asking for $200,000 and aims to release on PC and Mac in Spring 2015. If the title surpasses its goal, console versions are planned as well.
